Would anyone here happen to have a few close up photos of a Pedal-Bro? I have always wanted to see one up close but never had the opportunity. I found a couple general photos but nothing showing any of the details.
Thanks,
Robert |

Hi Paul,
Yes, that one..... Do you have any more photos? Would really like to see the changer, bridge, and the bottom side.
Thanks,
Robert |

These pictures are of the same Ped-A-Bro pictured above, Sonny Garrish's 2nd one. The undercarriage appears identical to other Franklin guitars. It has a changer design simliar to the one that was used on earlier guitars (cut-tail, looks like an Emmons). Notice the two allen screws in the endplate shot. I'm guessing this is because the "wraparound" design from later guitars requires the normal pedal steel neck, which would obviously not fit these instruments because of the cone.

A few examples of well-known records featuring the Pedabro would be nice. Can't think of any, but if Sonny Garrish played one I must have a few of them somewhere – he's on nearly 100 albums in my collection. Figuring where the sound would have been appropriate, could he have used it with the Judds, or maybe Holly Dunn? |

Don't know about Sonny Garrish, but Paul Franklin used it on a lot of Randy Travis records, the first being:"Forever & Ever,Amen". He also used it on a lot of Keith Whitley records. One of his last records:"It Ain't Nothin'" comes to mind. Also one of Keiths' biggest hits:"When You Say Nothing At All" has some beautiful pedabro work by PF. Pedabro was on a lot of records of that era.Hopefully someone else can remember some more. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/davidagriffin |

Paul Franklin played a pedabro on Shania Twain's song "If You're Not In It For Love, I'm Outta Here" and Mike Johnson played pedabro on Josh Turner's first song "Long Black Train". Sonny Garrish played pedabro on Ricochet's version of Seven Bridges Road.

An outstanding album that everyone who enjoys both the Pedabro and dobro should have is The Resocasters which came out in 2003. It features the late Hal Rugg on Pedabro and he is on just about every track, and Mike Auldridge and Jimmy Heffernan on dobro.
Heff has it available on this website and you can check it out here:

I have an album of Paul's .....I've mp3'ed all the tracks, but can't remember the album name, but it has the greatest Pedobro playing I've ever heard.
Numbers like Orange Blossom Special, Roly Poly, Mister D, .... Just blows everybody else out the water. Paul on Pedobro and steel. _________________ 1970 P/P Emmons D10 flatback 8x5, BJS Bar, J F picks, Peavey Session 500, Telonics pedal. Boss GX700 effects.

The Box was an acoustic lap steel that Paul played. The pedabro appears in several music videos, if you look really close in Trisha Yearwood's video of "The Song Remembers When", Paul Franklin is playin' steel and right beside him is the pedabro. The pedabro can also be seen in Keith Whitley's video "I'm No Stranger To The Rain". Carson Chamberlain played it and one thing that made his pedabro awesome was that it had the standard pedabro neck and a regular pedal steel neck. The pedabro also appears in the video of "Time Marches On" by Tracy Lawrence. It's a live video and if you look real close, you'll see the pedabro-at first I thought it was a Fender steel for some reason, but when I watched the video again, I noticed it was the pedabro.

At the St Louis show right after Keith died, Paul Sr had Carson's guitar at his booth. I wanted it severely, but he said he wasn't interested in selling it just then. He said Carson brought it back to him after Keith's death and didn't play at all for a while. _________________ On Earth, as it is in Texas |
