Become a sponsor and help build the European Steel Guitar Hall of Fame. You don't have to be resident in Europe. Just BUY A BRICK...

(I'm not an official of the ESGHofF, just an enthusiastic sponsor.)

Dosen't look like they take 'visa', hard to send a Cheque in 'pounds' as i dont keep an open account any longer.
They also dont have a bank account for the U.K.
I would be happy to sponsor it, i've got a 'Tenner' in me safe that i'll send to our 'English Agent', on their website.
Cheers Al. Smile

Thank you so much Larry, on a parallel slant, there were more Hawaiian groups in Birmingham in the 50's and 60's than there were in Waikiki.. AND more Hawaiian Groups working full-time in Holland in the same period than in the whole of the South Pacific and Australasia.

The world's top lady steelie is British and Mr. Jam (Hartley's of course) does a brilliant job of promoting the British Pedal steel aspects to the rest of the world, let's not be forgetting the immeasurable contributions by Gordon Huntley, Nigel Dennis, Eric Snowball, James Kerr, Ron Bennett, Roy Heap and Gerry Hogan Wink Wink etc.

So, it only seems right that we should have a European Steel Guitar Hall of Fame to honour our own..AND those from afar who helped promote the Steel Guitar in Europe,
(Shameless appeal for support)

You see it's NOT an exclusive "Old Boy's Club" it's objectives are quite clearly stated by Digby (Kiss me) Hardy:-
Quote:
The European Steel Guitar Hall of Fame has been inaugurated to honour players and others who have contributed to the development of the steel guitar in Europe.

This will not be an European only honorific, all nationalities are eligible. The main criterion is contribution to the development of the steel guitar in Europe.

The inaugural induction ceremony is planned for Saturday 19, September 2009 at the Chanos International Steel Guitar Festival.

Before that, we have to produce a suitable medal to be presented to the inductees. Specially made for the purpose, the one time cost for the design and tooling including the first batch of medals is 3,000 euros which will be raised from donations by founder members.

The List of founder members and sponsors is growing daily, and there IS light at the end of the tunnel.(Probably that old Orange Blossom Special) Laughing

Your Welcome Baz and thankyou for sending me in that direction along with our English mate Alan the
'Brummy'!!
I left 'Britain' 14 years ago to Work in the U.S as a 'Touring musician' which i did for 10 years on the road.
I hoped that the 'European Steel guitar hall of fame' would 'LET ME IN' after being gone for so long and wouldn't consider me an X.
You just never know, some folks get a bit funny about their 'Stray cats' Laughing

All jokes aside, it really is a great idea to have the 'Euro steel guitar hall of fame' it just goes to show that 'steel guitar' is Steel habit forming, and a global passion.
The amount of players on a global basis has become huge in the last 20 years, don't you think baz?

The forum has helped tremendously, even if some of us spend 'too' much time hanging! Very Happy

Hi Larry

Thanks for contributing the moolah to "THE" steel guitar project of 2009. Your name emblazons a plaque even as I write.

Something's going on - we've had 5 new members this weekend. Is that you Alan, stirring things up? John Davis is probably the other stirrer - a couple of East Anglian types popped up too - Dave Hartley to name just one. Oh! and a Frechman also.

We're almost half way to our target of 3000 euros; around 1800 to go. The Cave de Tain a very prestigious French wine producer has been very supportive and I'm coaxing the Mayor and local politicos to hand over a little more dosh. Unfortunately we've got to return to the UK tomorrow so the locals here will be off the hook for another 2 months.

But whatever the state of the medal appeal we will have the first inductions on 19 September 2009 and a bottle of France's finest will have to do for each inductee, until we get the medals minted.

Hi Alan

Its thanks to enthusiasts like you that we are making such progress. There's a steady flow of funds building up to the 3000 euro mark and we've even got Larry on board.

We'll go ahead with first inductions on Saturday 19 September, with or without the medals. I'm currently putting together the citations and we plan to publish the list of nominees by early September.

Next year we will involve all the founder members in the selection process but I'm a little concerned that the response from the Dutch and Germans has been so poor and we have only an handful of them. I'll have another go in their forums to stir things up in the interest of balance.

I can read and write in Dutch/Flemish if that would prove useful. Very Happy

You haven't seen my den. I use it as a model railway room, a workshop, and a recording studio. You have to climb over instruments and projects to get from one area to another. Very Happy

The nomination process for ESGHoF 2010 was completed a month ago and the names of the laureates will be published within the week.

The nominations and awards are for individuals who have contributed to the popularity of the Steel Guitar in Europe.

The ESGHoF medals will be presented at a ceremony in Chanos-Curson, France on the 18th September 2010, during the Chanos International Steel Guitar Festival.

Quote:
A key aim of ESGHoF is to give public recognition to the talents in Europe which will increase the self confidence and self esteem of European players and so accomplish two important objectives: firstly to enhance the popularity of the steel guitar in each European nation and secondly to encourage the development of distinctly European styles and sounds.

I suppose the inclusion of Americans is to pacify them??......
Very odd, indeed!
