There is the Sonuus MIDI converter but it is strictly monophonic so you can only get one key at a time.
I'm assuming that the old "Steel Rider" could be programmed for a keyboard sound but they are practically non-existant anymore.
The unit that Pat posted gives you more of an organ sound. |

How do you set a POG to simulate a piano? |

You can get a honkytonk piano sound by playing above the 24th fret. _________________ Bob |

I heard a steel player with a midi set up that sounded very close to a grand piano.. But he could really play and think piano . |

Check out 'What A Day" from Poco's first album, Pickin' Up the Pieces--Rusty plays a simple but very convincing piano part on steel.
I've used this approach:
Use a dead/no sustain wooden bar (think broomstick),
play up high above the 12th fret,
and think fast triplet chords: plinkety-plinkety-plinkety...
add a half step pedal pull like a Floyd Cramer twinkly grace note. |
