I purchased this as a basket case from a Craigslist posting and believe it was originally an older kit banjo from Stewart-MacDonald. It has since been completely assembled and adjusted with the addition of a new 5/8" bridge and new strings. The unit features a mahoghany neck and resonator, Five Star head, Planet pegs, and high quality metal parts and tone ring, giving it a LOUD, clear tone. One nice feature also, the resonator and flange can be removed and the banjo used in an open back configuration (for "clawhammer" style playing). A perfect instrument for stage use (add a pickup, save wear and tear on your Gibson, Stelling, Deering, etc.) or for a beginner, as this is an instrument you won't outgrow in six months.
