That's right. This weekend I will be playing 3 venues in the Los Angeles area with singer/songwriter great Amee Chapman.
Friday night I'll be playing at the Gypsy Lounge in Lake Forest (I belive Orange County):

Saturday night is the Taix Lounge:
http://www.taixfrench.com/
... and Sunday at 1:30 pm we will be playing the "Ruff Neck Days" rockabilly festival:
http://www.ruffneckdays.com/
Headlineing the festival on Sunday will be the great Wanda Jackson... so this looks to be one fun filled weekend for me and the band!!!
I'm hoping some of my SoCal steel friends can make it on down to one of these gigs! If you do, please do come up and say "Howdy"! I'll be playing my Carter U12 through my PV Nashville 112 with the Weber 15" "Michigan" speaker in it... if you ever wanted to hear what a Nashville 112 would sound like with a 15... here's your chance _________________ Dave Wren

I "might" be able to make it to the Sat show.
May have a gig, but it has not confirmed yet.

I'm shocked... I say shocked to hear Jim, you may have another gig... my agent told me there would be no other steel guitar players gigging in the basin this weekend
Well... the little woman and I are off in the early am... winding our way down south. So if one of my fellow forumites wants to bump this post in a day or so... well that would be just fine
Hope to see/meet the section of forumites who would like to see PSG in a non-traditional use.. now this may seem strange from a man who just won his second western swing "Hall of Fame" in Seattle... but damnit... it's a fine lead intrument in any application.. and the music of Amee Chapman is a perfect example... so come, and hear for yourselves!

Well I'm back home now. What a great time I had, met so many nice LA pickers, and some of Amee's fans from down south.
Fellow forumite Mike Perlowin dropped in Sat. night to cheer on the band... so nice to get a chance to chat with you again Mike!
Chris, I'm only playing occassionaly with the Buck Ford band now... I am playing with them this Thursday at the Rockin' Rodeo in Sacramento.... but I'm not sure if I'll be there Sat. or not... I'll drop you an email if I am... it would be great to hear you play again... been to long my friend!
Hey, thanks for the bump while I was burning up the road Jimmy! I'll have to catch you on the next trip south!!! _________________ Dave Wren

Hey David!
Lisa & Her Kin (me on guitar and the multi-talented Rusty Blake on steel, plus my sister Lisa on vox/ guitar and even big bro and smokin' guitarist/console steelman Chris Miller on bass) played Ruffneck Days later that same day! Hope you had fun, wish I could have seen you.
EDITED TO ADD: Whoops, I read that wrong, I played Saturday evening. Well, I still wish I could have seen you! |

Hi Ian.
Oh Man! What a bummer... never saw your band's name on the event's web site, other wise I would have hung around long enough to give ya a listen. I met Rusty 2 years ago at one of your Portland steel jams... real nice guy!!!... and killer picker to boot!
But there is one thing about this I like... at least someone had a longer drive home than me
Hey, I'll try to make it the next time you guys are in the Sacramento area... best to you and the band.
Hey Chris Ivey.... YES I will be seeing you with the Buck Ford on the 10th....think I remember it's your turn to buy the beer? _________________ Dave Wren
