Alan....
1st) I remember Cliff well.I was a teenager then. They were all my "local"heroes.I (in my 20s-1980s)went on to work with Jimmy Ingrahm/George Kay...as I worked for Tex Roe on & off for 10+yrs. Smile

2nd) it all starts with someone sending in a bio pack...as the NYSCMA does NOT just go out willy nilly recruiting nominations....believe me there are more than enough to whittle thru of the ones sent in.Of coarse there are certain requirements that are followed....1st mainly being "must be born in NYS"

3rd) A big chance the powers to be DO NOT have a clue who was who back then .....so it be up to you Exclamation

Bob,

I sent a pack years ago but nothing happened. He wasn't born in the state but lived there many years. I thought the rule was had to have lived there for so many years. Obviously I'm going to be biased but I think he was important in country music in that area from the late 50's until we moved to Houston in 1975.

Glad you know who my dad was and I know well the names you mentioned and remember dad having a lot of influence in their careers. A couple months ago I found a copy of "Tex Roe Sings Fire Shootin' Pony" where George and the rest of Dad's band backed Tex. There is one cut where dad sang. Many memories!

By the way - you sound like you are close to my age. Thanks so much for the response.

Alan

Alan....
52 in December Whoa!

I live near where they would play at the McLean FD Carnival....mid 70s(Also my Uncle lived in Elmira).I was a teenager & Cool George Kay Cool was my hero.He had a heart attack Oh Well on New Years (81-82?)& I took his place.

Your dad was a great showman Exclamation ....also your uncle played bass if I remember correct.I saw George @ the Country Music Park just a couple months ago.Jimmy Ingrahm has been gone a few years now.

I have the "FIRE SHOOTIN'PONY"album jacket ...but no record.I would love to pick up some form of a copy .I have old recordings of Tex's radio show from early 60s(?).Tex left us around 9yrs ago . Sad I still do jobs with his last group...nursing homes/church things.

Your dads group would be one night & Jim Pickard would be the next w/ Larry Lorows playing lead.Larry & I played for years in my "OPEN ROAD BAND".

The main rule of getting in to the HoF seems to be being born in NYS....but hit them up again...YOU ARE CORRECT....Cliff Coldiron deserves to be in the HoF.I'm sure maybe rules could be bent w/ enough documentation Rolling Eyes ....I would !...I'm sure Larry would agree.

Good Luck !

With all the ex NYers here in Florida, I didn't know there were any left Smile

Charlie Coldiron lives about 25 miles east of me and comes to our Florida Steel Guitar Club Jams. George O'Neil (and his wife Marion) and John King also come to the club jams. Hoss Coleates is another NYer that comes to the club jams. Johnny Bondz (Bondzinski) is another steeler and ex NYer that is in the area Donny Colf is a singer that is here. If I think harder I can probably come up with more.

Jack....

I got to hang out this summer with BUTCH DAVID .He winters in Florida and comes back to the Cortland area for the summer.I think he has a D-10 ShoBud ,but travels with a black StageOne.He is also a inductee inthe NYSCMA HoF.

I just finished up the summer(and never again Rolling Eyes ) with another couple that winters down there and plays up here in the summer.

Tooooooo HOT for me. I was in West Palm Beach to see my son @ the end of Jan'10.....HOT !(besides , ex-wife is also there ...so qualifies for hell status !)

maybe I should join your club so when I come to visit...........
