Bobbe hit the nail on this head again. With out mentioning any names i see where he worked with some of the ones i did also. One so called star thought meter was somethig you parked by. He would count off a song too fast then get on the mike and blame the drummer who finally walked off the stage until he apoligized.
The point being it was not only the side men who could have an attitude (ego) problem.
My last two gigs were in Europe with great people to work for. My only reason for leaving Nashville was only because the one nighters with the travel was not my cup of tea.
IMO it takes a special breed to work the one nighters with an artist. Not what its craked up to be for many.Very hard work and my hat is off to the ones who can do it. Tracy |

Bobbe must be using an old e-mail list. I changed my e-mail address from my hotmail account to a different account for his newsletter a couple of months ago and the last couple have been going to my hotmail account again.
I've toured with one well known singer and one night we are "too fast" on some songs and the next night we can be "too slow" on the same songs and we are doing them at the same speed. On the other hand I've toured with George Hamilton IV and he is one of the easiest singers I've ever worked with. We could start the song in the wrong key (we never did) and it wouldn't both him he would just "go with the flow" and never say a word. |

As ever, Bobbe has summed up everything in a short but perceptive piece about life in Nashville. With 45 years under his belt, Bobbe is as well placed as anyone to provide an insight on the social and business ethics of the place. I thought this particular newsletter made fascinating and very telling reading.
It is a place where you reap what you sow, and to fire a blame culture on the town when you suffer as a result of your own shortcomings is bizarre to say the least. Three of the most sucessful steel players to make it to the top eschelon in Nashville, Lloyd G, Sonny G and Paul F are all class acts. I could name many more - Tommy White, Doug Jernigan, Mike Sweeney, Bobbe S.....the list goes on
All I have to do next is to raid a few piggy banks so that I can buy his unused inventory of Sho-Bud parts. Once he has sold them all off, Bobbe will have room for 3 or 4 more classic cars in his spare unit. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. I haven't received Bobbe's newsletter in a couple of months. I thought he had stopped writing it. He must have booted me off the email list.
He's so easily offended, ya know... |

I haven't received it for a couple of months now. You owe me big time!
I re-enlisted on your web site. If I don't get the newsletter tomorrow, you're in big trouble. |

If you have yahoo, I don't think they carry the Tips. But you can go on his web page and get copies.
I look forward to them and I really like the road stories. Hope he writes a book someday. |

Scott, your "Super Maverick" is ready happy. I'll post some great pictures, it is the "Lead Players" dream steel to be sure. With your super playing styles you should be the right guy to take up the slack from a recently departed player that just left Nashville.
But I don't feel there is much slack to take up
Your buddy
