That's right! I'm asking you to contribute pedal steel guitars for a good cause. Very Happy Very Happy

I'm in the process of setting a non-profit entity for pedal steel guitar with the primary purpose of exposing young generations to our instrument.

If possible, I'd love to start a collection of guitars that I can provide to prospective students. I assure you if you make a contribution I will make sure it's gets in the hands of some talented young folks. Let's give this a shot. I have about 5 very talented kids right now that I need to find instruments for. SO if you have a steel guitar that you just don't need consider sending it my way. My Dad and I will restore it or do whatever it needs to make it at least playable. Again, I assure these guitars will not be sold. They will be placed in the hands of young folks who need to have a chance to give this a try.

We will provide tax-deductible receipts as well. I should have the 501C3 set very soon.

Pass this email on and let's get those steel guitars that are collecting dust and beneath beds a chance to bring inspiration to those who can lead the way into the future.

Respectfully,
Zane

Zane, talk to Lefty Shrage from the Iowa Jam show. They started the "Jump Start Academy which is just what you are doing. They have been doing this for some time now.

Blessings, Albert

Yes, good plan Zane. I can vouch for what you are doing and for what Albert said. When I was curious about the pedal steel guitar I was used to the relatively affordable prices that introductory-level six-string guitars cost. What a sticker shock it was for me on the pedal steels. Well, I probably would've got a poor quality starter guitar and no help or mentoring. But, with the help of the Jump Start Academy I had the chance to play on a solid MSA for nearly a year, had several folks to show me some things, answer questions, and provide an outlet for learning and exploration of the instrument. After that I ended up buying my own instrument, and even though I spent a good chunk of money on it, I feel like I got my moneys worth. I learned to appreciate the instrument, the craft that went into building it, and was so gracious for the chance to play on the good old MSA that was so graciously donated to the Academy. If not for that I may not have ever learned to play, let alone buy my own instrument. I have even introduced the instrument to a lot of my friends who are at least now aware of what the instrument is and how it sounds. Good luck Zane, and although I do not have any extra instruments or funds to donate now I encourage what you are doing. It is a great idea.

Thanks for the inquiries already about donating steel guitars and accessories. I'm so encouraged about how much generosity there is within our community. I'll keep you posted as all of this develops. Smile
