Does anyone have any info about instruments made by Lectrolab? It was a Chicago comapny also know as "Sound Projects Company". I have seen a Sound Projects Troubador lap steel (aluminum), but never a Lectrolab until these photos surfaced. I maintain a non-commercial site devoted to housing information about Lectrolab. You can see all the photos at:

I've never heard of them by that name, although I have seen the metal body Sound Projects Company lap steels in the past.

The guitar you have pictured almost certainly had covers over each of the pickups, with the covers now long gone and forgotten. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

They look like Hofner "soap bar" pickups used on Harmonys and Kays etc.Maybe just rebadged,I have one of those cast metal Sound Projects guitars badged National conservatory on the headstock and a Regal badge on the tail ,so I guess anything goes. |

Is it possible that this a home built steel using parts gleaned from different sources? The unmatched knobs may be a clue. Could it even be a Stringmaster
body with the ends squared off? _________________ LeGrande II, Nash. 112, Fender Twin Tone Master, Session 400, Harlow Dobro, R.Q.Jones Dobro |

Could be home made, but definitely not a stringmaster. |

Until I can find that article I can't refute your statement, Dave, and you may just be correct.
The Lectrolab is a fine amp tho, and does have some very sweet distortion. BB cannot have it! |
