Just thought I would share two of my pets.
As a guitar repairer I get lots of requests for custom work and the usual question of “do you make guitars?” the answer is "no I do not", already great builders out there and I really don’t have the time.
But for my friend’s birthday (a guy who sends me lots of work) I decided to do something special, he is a Tele freak.
So when a 200-year-old “red gum” needed some clean up work I had an idea.
This is a Tele copy body made from salvaged wood, knobs, scratch plate, control plate all wood. I like it and he loved it, very unique only one in the world.
The second project started as a joke when I bagged a guys Ricky “frypan” I told him
I had an earlier version called a “skillet” never seen one well here it is.
Real pan and again salvaged wood all works and sounds great. And I guess I can cook up a snack during breaks.

Sounds great. I use a bunch of lap slides and this one would cut glass at 50' The p/up is a very first run by Schaller and was made about 1975.
The neck is a square block runs full length, screwed at the end of the pan and thru the top before the finger board was installed.
I'll get a picture of the back and add it to this post later. |
