Are there any clubs around Nashville that feature a steel player other than down on lower Broadway? I will be showcasing 16 bluegrass bands at Layla's Bluegrass Inn, noon til four p.m., Wed. through Friday and will have the nights free. Sure would like to be able to catch someone like Bobbe Seymour or just whoever at night. Bobbe used to play, years ago, at a place off of Trinity Lane. That's when he had that Rolls Royce. I can't make it in time for the Time Jumpers. What a bummer.
This coming week is the bluegrass IBMA week at the Convention Center so if anyone out there digs a little bluegrass, come join us at the Center or at Layla's. No steel at Layla's but lot's of great BG. Thanks, Dave A. Burley

Jim & Dave, you might have to forget about the Timejumpers on Monday night. A few years ago we stopped by Nashville on the way back from Scotty's convention. We decided to go to the Station Inn on Monday night and went in and got a table. My wife went to the counter to order a pizza and I was sitting there watching things. No musicians were there yet. A guy walked in the door and said to the person there "Bluegrass here tonight, eh?" and the doorperson said "Yes, it's IBMA week here in Nashville. I walked over to the door and asked them if the Timejumpers were going to be there and the lady said "No, this is the only Monday night of the year that they're not here"... Oh well, I ran up to the counter and told my wife to cancel the pizza and we left. On the way out of the parking lot I told her maybe we'd just wait a day and go to the Tuesday night Grand Ole Opry show and she thought that'd be a great idea. I tuned in WSM on the car radio and listened to a couple of tunes and then Eddie Stubbs voice came on and said "Remember folks, don't forget about the 'All Bluegrass' show tommorrow night at the Grand Ole Opry".... I almost ran off the road at that. Needless to say, we left the next morning and went back to Va. I can hear all the bluegrass I want to in Virginia. If I go to the Opry I want to hear some classic country music and not bluegrass!........JH in Va.

Dave -

Go to the Station Inn website. They have a bonafide calendar showing who's there and on what night.

Calendar for October shows the Timejumpers there every Monday night.

Enjoy the show as much as I have!

Respectfully,

Richard

I can't tell you much about it, but I have heard good things about a place called the Long Hollow Jamboree. I think it is on a Friday or Saturdan night. It is apparently a family place with BBQ and /or a buffet. Supposed to have super pickers and singers that vary from time to time. Sorry, this is all I know.
