Hi David,
Ceriatone offers a range of amp clones based on designs by Fender, Vox, Marshall, Dumble, Trainwreck and others.
These amps target the DIY type, tho' they will ship them in various pre-assembled conditions (e.g. without transformers).
This can help reduce shipping costs as they come from Malaysia.
A friend of mine had them build a Matchless DC 30 clone and send it over to Nashville.
The amp is well built and sounds very good.
I only heard it with 6 string -- my steel wasn't on hand.
Unfortunately we didn't have a real DC 30 to compare it to.
Still, his favourite amp is an old Blackface Bassman ...

I recently stumbled upon their website. I was very seriously considering ordering a 5E8A Tweed Twin, in either kit form or a finished amp...until I discovered that shipping would cost me about $300.
It was a deal killer and I'm disappointed. |

These things are great !! Even with shipping figured in they are only 1/3 the price of a comprable amp stateside.  |

| One trick with Ceriatone amps is to to source the trannys here. Since they are most of the weight of the kits the shipping is much less when you get a kit without trannys. |

Ceriatone is very highly regarded down here in Australia and a lot of folks have them.
I'd like a Trainwreck clone just for the fun of it.
Get your transformers locally, thats a good idea especially if you have that weirdo 110V at the mains  |

I had his Trainwreck clone at my place for a while. It was a good sounding amp for what it was, but wasn't too much like the real deal to my ears. Ken Fischer used to use very tight tolerances on his components and special transformers. Those amps are magical.
