I have been using a well know brand cover for a couple years, it seems to be the cause on my end plate oxidation.
There has been no oxidation since I stopped using it and polished it off.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Do not know what brand cover that you are using, as I make covers my self I can tell you from experience if the material isnt water or moisture resistant such as a marine grade, oxidation and rust will occurr due to the materials inability to wick away moisture..
