As I was changing strings on my E-9 Sho-Bud LDG yesterday, the 3 rd string (G#) failed to lower. The changer finger appears to have a spring off as the finger appears not to return to the G# position. Is this a major repair? I hope I've stated this correctly.
I would appreciate your comments, TommyG... _________________ Mullen SD-10 RP, Evans SE-200, Line 6 POD XT, Peterson Flip Tuner, Geo. L Cable, Hilton Pedal, and D2F Covers for all. |

Tommy,
Did the return spring just come unhooked?
If you look at the changer, each string has a spring that is mounted to the end of the guitar and attached to the lower finger. It allows the lowered note to return snug against the changer.
There should be a hook at each end -- one goes through a hole in the end of the changer by the endplate and the other goes through a hole in the lower finger. Look at how the others are attached.
If it's broken you may want to replace it. I'm sure Jeff Surratt at Show Pro has one -- or Bobbe Seymour or Scotty's, John Coop or James Moorehead, among others. _________________ Larry Bell - email: larry@larrybell.org - gigs - Home Page

Sometimes the pull rod gets hung up on the bellcrank(attached to the cross shaft) and won't let it return properly (obviously depending on the type of bellcrank being employed) and both ends of the pull rod should be examined and make sure that they are where they are supposed to be . |
