I'm sure this subject has been beaten to death hundreds of times on forums, but I am in need of a really good top quality volume pedal. I'm not into "dissing" brands, but the current brand I have has a scratchy pot and it seems the volume taper is very uneven. Years ago, I owned an Edwards light beam pedal and wished I would have kept it. So, while money IS an object, I do realize that you get what you pay for. So can anyone tell me what's out there? I'm thinking that a traditional pot type pedal won't make me happy in the long run and wonder if there's anything out there that would be comparable to a light beam type of pedal since Edwards is out of business. Thanks folks!! |

Kevin, You want to get yourself a pedal that feels comfortable for you. The pedal is only half of it though. If you like the pedal you now have, keep it and install a new pot.
If you go the new pot route I can highly recommend the one make of pot that is the absolute leader in today's finicky market. Contact Tom Bradshaw
at http://www.songwriter.com/bradshaw/ and buy his 500K Dunlop pot. Tom wrote the book on honest and will do you right! _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

Goodrich. They used to have a pot-less pedal but I'm not sure if they still do.
Sorry but the last time I checked Goodrich didn't have a web presence and I don't know how current this info is:

The Telonics volume prdal has helped improve my VP technique, and has increased my enjoyment of playing too. (if that's possible) IMHO worth every dime.
I've got em in stock. _________________ Steel Guitar Services:

Would that 500k pot be the type in the Dunlop high gain pedal? |

This has been said before, but here it is again. Just take the metal cap off the back of the pot, Buy a spray can of contact cleaner, with a lube, at Radio Shack, or another electronic store. Take your pedal to a place where you dont worry about drips. Then spray your pot and the wiper arm. Rotate the pedal as your spraying. Let it dry, and then install the metal cover. Play your steel. 9 out of 10 times some particals of dirt got in there. Then if that don't work, install a new pot. _________________ Sho-Bud LDG, Martin D28, Ome trilogy 5 string banjo, Ibanez 4-string bass, dobro, fiddle, and a tubal cain.
