I would like to restring the E9 neck on this MSA 12 string. The only sets I can see are 10-string or 12/Universal. The Universal sets appear to have very heavy 11/12 strings. Is there just a regular set for E9 12 string or what am I missing? Not understanding this.

Just get a regular E9th set and add a .042 and a .054 on the bottom. You can buy the sets and the singles right out of the Steel Guitar Forum catalog.

As far as I know, no company has made a 12 string extended set. Like Bob, said, just buy a 10 string set and buy the 11th and 12th string separately. I use either a .052 or .054 for the low E and a .042 for the low G#.

What the guys said.

Also, I used to buy a lot of strings from Bruce at Zumsteel. He offered a packaged EXT. E9th set. You can't order online, but his contact info is here: www.zumsteel.net Click the price list button for details.

Mike, I use a .046 for the low G# and a .056 for the low E because I lower it a tone & a half to C# and it sounds better with the fatter string. Also one of the bands I play in I'm required to do some distortion things on the lower strings and the extra "meat" helps down there! (No pun intended)...JH in Va.
