The "Memphis" vamp is in Scotty's Anthology, I believe. I've got tab for the "truck" vamp from Don Curtis around her somewhere... I'll try and find it. |

Memphis vamp is in Winnie Winstons' PSG page 71. Check out Mickey Adams you-tube vids titled Memphis Tennessee. |

On any of those types of vamps you can play around with those lower grips (strings 10,8,6- 8,6,5) from the no pedals, to pedals down, to the 3 fret higher position with A pedal and E to F lever.
Almost any kind of pattern works as long as it's rhythmic and assertive.
Comping gold. |

I use 4-6-10 strings for the root of the vamp along with some other strings . |

"Six days..." in A.
Slide from from the 4th fret to fret 5 on the sixth string, (stay on 5th fret...) pick string 4, than 5, 2 lowered to D, string 4 again and repeat till the vocals come in. Only a basic lick that fits (in my opinion). |

With my appreciation to Greg Cutshw, below is a link to a C6th vamp. Search for it on the page.

It is easy to play the steel guitar. Playing so that the audience finds it pleasing is the difficult act. |
