Have any of you guys ever played an Evans FET-500 through a 12" speaker? If so, how did it sound?
I have a 1985 FET-500LV that came in the large cabinet when it was built. A small cabinet was available, but I chose to order the large cabinet. Now I'm trying to cut back on size and weight. I was thinking about having a smaller cabinet built for this chassis and a 12" speaker.
Any thoughts?

I use a 250 watt Neo in my new steel. I bet the old cab with this speaker would weigh less than a new cab with a conventional 12" premium speaker! This speaker only weighs 6.75 pounds at 250 watts. I also have 350 watt version at 8.85 pounds. A JBL E-130 weighs in at 22.25 lbs and a Peavey 1501-4SB weighs 17 pounds.
I doubt you would shave off only a few pounds with a smaller cab and hardly anything with a 12" standard premium type speaker. |

You might find the post that I just made concerning putting an Emminence speaker in an Evans of interest. |

I play through one that John Hughey had, and it is great sounding. Not much difference in weight though. Smaller Cabinet is easier to manage. L.M. |
