Someone sent me these videos from a show I did with Lucky Tubb back in July. The sound and visual quality is pretty bad and the fact that I was just sitting in for the night not knowing his music didn't help, but still some of it is OK. I really like my Fender T-8 Custom driving my Music Man amp the way it does here.
Again, I'm just listening to the keys and chord changes the band plays the tunes. I don't mind playing like this--it keeps me on my toes and I've been preparing for those scenarios my whole career. I'd rather rely on my ears in some cases than a chart.
Check out the chicks with the hula hoops.

All of your solos sound good. Tastefull playing and great tone. I like the 3rd video solo the best. Is that an E9 tuning you used on it? |

Not a fun band to play in. Lucky Tubb is a sociopath. |
I can't really comment on that since I don't really know him, but in the 2 or 3 times I've met him he was OK to me. He did lament to me that he has a checkered reputation, and he was sad about it. Still, until he proves me otherwise, I'll be happy to play with him when he comes to NY. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Props Mike! Those are some mighty tasty and coherent impromptu solos. _________________ If Music Be the Food of Love, Play On. -Shakespeare

I have played with lucky many times, I have to admit its a little wild at times but he does a great job and no pressure at all from him or natilie. and the best part of all its always cash and you will always get paid. _________________ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvuH7H8BajODaL_wy3_HSJQ |

I played six string for Lucky for a couple of years and toured with him and the Modern Day Troubadours. I consider Lucky a friend even though his reputation has outran him. Out of all the bands I've picked or steeled for Lucky's brand of country is right up my alley. We had some good and bad times, but all of our experiences were memorable. He never stiffed me on my paycheck and always paid me well. I'm busy with my western swing group JWW And The Prospectors or I'd probably still be playing for him. Cheers from ATown. _________________ I'd rather be pickin' |

I think I understand that full well, Herb!
Doing a gig or 2 with him and the band gave me a chance to play the kind of music I never get a chance to play (as you can tell by my crappy playing) but which I really enjoy once in a while. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Am I conversing with the same Mike Neer whose steel playing totally knocks me out and qualifies him for monster-picker status? Gosh, if I've got the wrong guy, I apologize.
But I don't think I do. You are, as the youngsters say, da man. And I won't hear another word about it! _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Great stuff Mike, I always enjoy your playing.
BTW, I play with egocentric, psychotic vocalists on a regular basis. It's called "being a working musician". |
You should have heard one vocalist I worked for practice singing scales... "Mi me me me me me me me me."

Something tells me you enjoy it more than that! Especially on the first one -- I thought you nailed it, stylistically speaking.
I also really liked your tone. What was your gear (& the tuning on that neck) for that gig? _________________ http://www.harmonicappliances.com/ |
