Yes, I've just been informed by President Albert Talley that his discussions with Buddy Emmons and Doug Jernigan have resulted in those two incredible players being confirmed as "on the show" at the upcoming 2004 Texas Steel Guitar Jamboree.

March 11-14, 2004.

This, oh inhabitants of Forumland, is great news!

The schedule will of course also have our traditional Tennessee monsters... Hal, Herby, John, and more yet to be confirmed. Plus the usual coterie of Texas guys as well as some players from the Near East, such as Jim Cohen.

Albert says that Buddy will do a show on Friday and a show on Saturday. I don't know the particulars yet of any of the other scheduling.

More info will be posted on the TSGA website as the situation develops. Stay tuned

Herb, that is great news. I have always wanted to see Big E in person. Now if they could just get Lloyd Green, that would be a really big show. I have attended the TSGA Jamboree for 9 or 10 years. I have never attended the St Louis show, so to me the TSGA is the biggest and best. Now I am looking forward to the 2004 show as never before. Thanks for the news.

Will Emmons and Jernigan do the duet thing that Buddy and Hal did at the Bell Cove? That would be worth seeing and please film it!!! I have never had the chance to the go to the Texas Show.

Maybe in the meantime, I will earn enough frequent flyer points to get a free ticket!

Joe - Don't you know anything about Country music?

It's "Cold FORT WORTH beer..." Not a problem, it's only a 30 minute drive, and I've got a three-quarter ton pickup.

You don't have to worry about you and Smiley being the only ones drinking either, I might can give you a run for your money.

Frank Estes,
Doug and I will not be sharing a set at the Dallas show. As a joke, I have come face to face with Doug and challenged him many times over the years to “lock horns.” One night at the King of the Road motor inn in Nashville, he accepted and it scared me so much, I finished my set, packed up and never asked him again.

Actually Doug and I have jammed several times together but he gave me such a “trimming,” it’s something I’d rather not talk about.
