A friend called me last week asking if I'd play on a song that he was putting together. It was to be a song about the Jet Blue flight attendant Steven Slater who recently walked off the job after cussing out the passenger who abused him and sliding down the escape slide. I figured my friend wanted me to make the "slide sound" and a maybe bit of noodling. So he emailed me the basic track and I went into my basement studio and did a quirky sliding sound at the right point in the song. I also noodled around on the rest of the song with the idea - the whackier, the better. I sent it to him and the next thing I know, I'm the featured player and Butch is having a conversation in the song with me -and he introduces me - IN THE SONG! WHOA! Imagine my surprise.
Anyway, the idea is that the song Slide Slater Slide might catch on and go "viral" on the interweb. I hope you get a chuckle and feel free to pass the link along.

Gotta tell you I wanted to hate this even before I heard it- I'm so tired of America's obsession with wacky folks and their allotted fifteen minutes.
But.. as it turned out you covered my sentiments in the song!
And- the playing was great
Good job |

Hey thanks fellas. I appreciate the nice words.
Bob, I played through a Sarno SMS Classic into a new self-powered speaker that I'll be debuting at Scotty's in two weeks. It's called the VB12 (VB is for the Variable Back that can tune the low end response) I just put a decent mic in front of the cab and sent it into ProTools. No EQ.
