The Pennsylvania Polka played all on the E9th tuning. Drums are EZDrummer with lots of manual edits. Somewhat true to the classic arrangement with a few swizzles thrown in. Don't hear a lot of polkas done on the steel guitar anymore so here's a dead genre on a dead instrument with dead strings (about 9 months old). Three part harmony on the steel intro.

Hear it!

to bad they don't make a pedal steel patch cord so we could all interconnect ourselves and all be great players.

Hey Greg...do you have a patch cord I can connect to?

Greg:

Make a list of all those things...in fact make two lists in case you forget where you put the first one. I just hope your work today does not include your PSG..would hate to loose a talent like yours.

Ya got to be careful about those non-work things....them suckers can become work before you know it Very Happy Then your doing work and not just for the fun of it anymore.

About this thread:

Many years ago when I use to cut hair, we could not wait until 4:00 PM on Saturday....it was polka time on the radio. I sure miss the sound of it. Listening to your audio it sure brought back memories and you sounded great. You really should do more polka and I would really like to learn some easy polka tunes.

I agree with you that we don't hear this stuff much on the steel...maybe you could help change that. Sometime a revisit from the past can at the right time, can be the spark of new life and ignite a fire. I think you just might have the match Greg.

Greg, Did you also use the MSA on your cut of "Texas Playboy Rag"? BTW, that was the best version I ever heard..great tone and great playing.

Ron, we always played about 3 polkas a night along with the assorted country and rock tunes and it does add a nice twist to the band. It's fun to watch people polka too tho' I could never do it.

Brad, the pedal version was done on my MSA and the lap steel version on the SX. Lot's of Jimmy Day riffs on the pedal version. It was also recorded on my Yamaha AW-1600 which had (to my ears) more natural sounding preamps than the AW-2400 I am using now. That song makes a great break tune if you shorten it up and add an accented intro and ending!
