Bob, thanks a bunch for the mention. I was misled just a tad by the writer. He invited me for lunch and left me with the impression that he was going to do an article on the steel guitar. I even ordered a copy of Andy Volk's book and took it with me to the interview so that I could attempt to have my facts straight about some of the history of the steel. Well when I get to the interview he tells me that the article is going to be about ME and the steel guitar article would have to wait till a later date. That wasn't publicity I was looking for, but I guess ANY publicity is better than NO publicity. As is usually the case with most writing by the press, there are a few mistakes; eg, I didn't retire in 1995 as was stated, actually it was 2002. Also, as much as I would have enjoyed it, I did not play steel for Linda Carter (Wonder Woman) but rather for Linda Cable, singer/piano player extraordinare from Lebanon, MO.
All in all, I think he did a pretty good job, as he wrote something very positive about the steel, and we can always live with that.

All publicity is fundamentally good, as long as they spell your name right. Fine article about a fine fellow. |
