I have an old Music Man 2x10 65 watt amp that I don't use very frequently, since it's great for 6 string but for steel, not so much. A non-steel-playing friend has become enamored of it and wants to trade straight up for a pristine Blackface reissue Twin Reverb. I already own an Ultralinear 135 watt Twin, but it seems this deal is too good to pass up.
Thoughts? |

Jeremy, I think the answer is in your own words. You said you don't use your Music Man very frequently, and you described the Blackface RI Twin as pristine...if it was me, I'd go for it! _________________ Clinesmith consoles D-8/6 5 pedal, D-8 3 pedal & A25 Frypan, Pettingill Teardrop, & P8 Deluxe. |

I think you will end up with a RI that sits and doesn't get used very much...
The Dollar value makes a good trade if you sell the Twin. _________________ MSA 12 String E9th/B6th Universal.

I would convert the music man to a head and use a 1X15 cab with a good steel speaker. For me, I think that would be a great steel amp.
The "Blackface" reissue is not very well made (cheesy PC Board) and back breaking heavy with stock speakers.Although as pointed out probably worth more in resale. |

The RI Twin is light as a feather compared to the 135 watt twin and (IMHO) a good amp for steel. I had both for a while and used the RI for one-set gigs or situations where i had to get on and off quickly. If you've already determined you don't like the Music Man for steel, I'd make the trade. |
