Quebe Sisters - - - Wow!

I had the pleasure of seeing these at the Cambridge folk festival this last weekend. If you like Texas western swing watch them on YouTube.. The best live music I have seen for a long time. They are from Fortwoth TX..

I recommend getting their timeless album yoo.

thanxxx to "shine" thornten an 80 yr old fiddler and owner of maries famous hot tamales in greenville for turnin' on the delta symphony board to these ladies they will close the spring arts series with a free outdoor concert.

"shine" was the stand-up bass player/comedian for the hot biskit boy's back in the early 50's on radio here. the horn player was a young jimmy peters, who grew up to become the famous hit country song writer ben peters. kiss an angel good mornin' ...and... before the next teardrop falls.

Their vocal style reminds me of the Forrester Sisters, very smooth, almost like one voice. It is difficult to top good sibling harmony!

Wow!!!
I think I now know how folks who saw The Andrews Sisters in person must have felt.
That was great!
I got to stand in the front row for the whole show.
They also had my new favorite Upright Bass player, and a great guitar player.
You know, the best thing was that they had no drummer, hence the volume was in the "no ear-plugs needed" zone all night.

I first caught them at Red Stegall's fest in Ft. Worth last year, and they BLEW ME AWAY! As good as the girls are, however, I had trouble keeping my eyes off of what Joey McKensie (their leader/guitar) was doing. He works his butt off with his chord progressions. Also, real hats off the Drew (stand up bass).

In this same section, there was an entire thread dedicated to beating up on the drummer. You might want to check it out, I hate for you to miss the opportunity. I know what you mean about those drummers though, don't know why anybody would bother having one.

Back to the thread topic, the Quebe Sisters are something special. I hope their enjoyment level is as high as their talent level.

The Sisters seemed genuinly ecstatic with their audience responce, as well as just loving to play the songs they chose to play.

I can't tell what you are trying to say about my comment about them not having a drummer.
I can't stand loud drummers, but love drummers who can play an entire gig witout making us wince at the rate of 160BPM.
Are ya with us or agin' us?

Hey Pete,

Just funnin' with ya a bit. I have as much fun with the drummer jokes as anybody, and like you, I hate it when the drummer (or any other player for that matter) plays too loud and gets everything out of balance. Not that they need anything at all, but it sure would be fun to sit in with the girls, just a snare drum and brushes.

I keep a snare and brushes set up here in my home.
I don't disagree that that would be a fun sit in.
I played Air-Steel to many of their tunes.
I would love to hear them with a Steel.

But with regard to live music in general, here's what I voice to the bretheran...

I don't want anyone to have to wear ear-plugs when they come to hear our band.

I don't want anyone to have a ringing in their ears when they go to bed at night after hearing our band.

The Quebe Sisters met both of these marks without issue. Very Happy
