I have a SKH that has these tuners on it.I hate them. They are the hardest turning keys I'v ever used.Does anyone know of any key I could buy to replace these that the screw hole would fit without modification. Thanks,Ricky

I replaced the Sperzel's on my 81 Franklin with new ones about two years ago. A major improvement in the new ones. I had several bad ones and the ones that were not bad turned hard. The new ones work like they should.

The SKH Emmons is probably about the same age.

I got mine directly from Sperzel, under $100 for both necks. I got the "wide" key heads and that also helps.

Jack, is there a model number on those ones? Are they made with pedal steel in mind?

I don't know. I called them and they wanted to know what brand of Steel I needed them for and after I told them Franklin they said they had the specs for that model, as Franklin had given them the shaft length he wanted, and that was all they needed.

Looking at the types on the web site the "Solid Pro" appears to be the type I have (with the custom shaft length).

Have the same problem w/ my emmons 12 and am told that all you need to do is pop open the tuner cover and replace the lub.. It gets hard and gums up the works.
You can send them back to them and they will do it for you. Have not tried it yet but am gonna when I get the next break in my show schedule which is going good right now .. may the master of gigs protect me ..
