Well now I've gone and done it. I agreed to put a trio together and open for my favorite band in the whole world. Asleep At The Wheel - with Eddie Rivers on his magic Stringmaster. We're playing at a great place in Evanston, Illinois (just one town north of Chicago) called SPACE. It's the Monday 8/2/10 show.

The TC Furlong trio (aka TC3) will take the stage at 8PM. Joining me will be tele master John Rice and swingin' upright bass player Malcolm Ruhl. I've also asked the fabulous Ingrid Graudins to sing a couple with us and rounding out the set will be mandolin virtuoso Don Stiernberg on five string electric mandolin for a couple of tunes. I figured the general public shouldn't be subjected to a whole set of steel guitar instrumentals which is what the SPACE booking guys asked me to do.

In case anyone is interesting in catching the show, I have arranged discount tickets for forum brothers and sisters. Just send me an email and I'll give you the discount code for the tickets page of the SPACE website.

Hope to see some "FOBROs" there tomorrow night!

Thanks for checking in all. The gig went off without a hitch. It was a great night and The Wheel was fantastic as usual. Not only was Eddie Rivers nailing it but each member of the band took their turn slaying the audience. Jason Roberts played a lot of four string electric mandolin. The bass player was unbelievably swingin'.

Ray Benson told me that Eddie was playing Gene Crownover's Stringmaster. The same one Gene played with The Texas Playboys. How cool is that?

A few photos from the gig last night. A friend even did a quick oil painting of me Smile

I had the honor of playing at Brewskis in Cumberland Maryland, as front band for the Wheel. My band back then was 'Country Revue', in which, strangely enough, I played lead guitar. My lifelong friend Dick Atkinson of Frostburg Md played steel in the group.
John Ely was the Wheels steel player that night & of course they did a bang up job & we all had a great nite. Those folks in Asleep At the Wheel are really nice & easy to get along with. I know I sure enjoyed talking with John & some of the other guys as well. Ain't Memories Great!!

Ernie Pollock Very Happy
