Thanks for all the nice comments. P.F. was right. It was lots of fun!
Everyone was very nice, even David Letterman. He did shake my hand and thanked me at the end of the show; it just didn’t get on camera. Paul and the entire band were all super nice and seemed to enjoy my “pickin”. The director moved me toward the front at rehearsal for a better “steel shot” (Steel Shot, that’s TV talk)

Jeff Surratt makes a great guitar. Letterman keeps the studio just a few degrees above freezing, and the SHO-PRO stayed in tune wonderfully through the blizzard. S.I.R. sent over a Nash. 400 that was pretty good, but the good tone was coming from that SHO-PRO Steel Guitar.

Our Paul, (Paul Franklin), played great on Jimmy’s CD. I am a big fan of Jimmy Webb songs too. He has written songs like “Galveston” and “By The Time I Get To Phoenix”, which he wrote when he was 18 years old. He wrote “Wichita Lineman” when he was 19.

It was a really cool thing to get to do and hopefully good for “Steel Guitar Awareness”

I am sorry I don’t get to visit the Steel Forum as often as I would like to.
Thanks for the nice posts about the show and so many other nice comments over the years.

As several of you guys have noticed, my website has been "hacked". We are working on it, but the predator keeps returning. (Must not be a steel fan).

Thanks again.

Fixed it for ya... Laughing Laughing

Seriously, Mike, you were an excellent presence for all of us. It was nice to see a real steel player on there for a change, instead of a guitar player that bought a steel last week for a spot on the show... been too many of those, IMO...

Mike

Maybe folks are super nice to you because you and Joanie are super nice people.

As well as being one of the WORLD'S best Steel Guitar Players.

It was amazing sitting by you and hearing you play in Nashville.

John

Always a great job Mike. You are at the top of my list of great steel players with the most awseome touch and tone. I am a little prejudice cause Mike, even though we say he is from Nashville he was Alabama raised. Very Happy

I have played his sho pro and wow what an awesome guitar. He has got a good one, and it is pretty too!

Hey Mike, I managed to see the Youtube clip - Letterman is a bit behind down this way !

Fantastic job and your right, the guitar sounded incredible - as did your playing.

I managed to sneak a play on your guitar in the Show Pro room at Dallas (and you caught me Very Happy ) -- it is truly awesome mate.

Mike, that was wonderful playing.

You represented our instrument very well. Great song, and you added what was needed musically, with no cliches or gratuitous 'commercial' licks.

And as Paul said, you looked like you were having fun, which is what this adventure is about. (or should be about)
