This reminds me of something that happened down here, about 35 years ago. A friend of mine had a nice little guitar shop and picked up some very good vintage instruments from the "snowbirds" that come in from up north for the winter.
One time, he saw and ad in the newspaper for "clocks, lamps, old banjos". He went out to the mobile home park where the snowbird was camped and asked to see the old banjos. Well, what he showed him made him sick to his stomach. This guy had taken a bunch of old Gibson banjos, sawed the headstocks off and replaced them with a light fixture and lampshade. The heads, brackets, tailpieces, tone rings, etc. had been removed to make room for the beautiful clocks!
He was quite proud of his work. |
