I recently upgraded to Mac 10.6.4 and find my Photoshop 7 does not work. I can use iTunes to do all I need EXCEPT resizing. Does anyone know of a free program that I can get, or tell me how I can do it with the Mac. Thanks,

Lee,
I don't think Photoshop 7 will run on an Intel processor, which seems to be what you have. You can get Photoshop Elements, which will run on your comp, from Adobe for about $80, and it's well worth it.

While a wonderful program, BreezeBrowser is for Windows computers only. The OP is using a Mac.
Of course, he could run it with Parallels Desktop or BootCamp but I suspect that's more hassle than it's worth.
There are a number of free apps that will re-size graphics in OS X, as well as some that will do it online, without having to install software.
You could try: ShrinkPictures, or PicResize, or Resize It, or many others to resize pictures online, using your web browser. These are free and suitable for small numbers of pics. If you're doing lots of pics at one time, you'll need more power.
Most people don't know that you can also resize graphics using OS X's built-in Preview app. You have to use Automator, the scripting tool, but here's a tutorial that gives you the exact steps needed to create a droplet, onto which you drag files you want to re-size.
Finally, Apple itself offers a free, downloadable app called Resize Pictures Suite that does exactly what you want. |

Mac OS X comes with a free Preview application to open graphic files. Open the file you want to resize in Preview, then choose Tools > Adjust Size. No need to buy Photoshop!

Preview also lets you crop 
One way I use it is to hit print in any application, then preview.
Once edited in Preview you can save in various formats.
An example would be a preview of a copedent formatted in Excel saved and uploaded to the forum.

Not being a Windoz/Mac guy.. a friend of mine recommended the BreezePro I mentioned above. One of the features he really liked was the fact that any resizing or manipulation of a photo never interfered with the original copy. So if I took a real high resolution photo and wanted to shrink it down to 1024 x 768, it would do so and the original huge digital photo was still in tact. This is a feature that I feel should be part of any photo resizing tool. Do any of the other products listed here offer (by default) this feature? Being a novice, I assure you I would have clobbered the original size if the software allowed me to.
PS: I am not bias toward BreezePro. It just happens to be what I use by referral. |

In any app, including the Gimp, I'm sure, if you crop and resize a photo and save it under a different name, the original will be unscathed, as long as you close it without saving it.
