Looking for some suggestions on some darker tunings-like the one below that I dig...
Also, a great Lanois style E9 for 6 string
David Torn's lap steel tuning from September 1996 Guitar Player magazine:
1. D
2. C#
3. B
4. F#
5. B
6. E
Hidde Hanenburg says of this tuning, "I tried it a few nights ago and I thought it sounded ambient, ethereal, "pretty" -- and kinda weird. I thought it was cool, so I'm keeping one of my lap steels in this tuning for now."
Thanks in advance |

I sometimes tune my resonator guitar in G minor (G B-flat D g b-flat d). It's easy to do (flat the two B strings) and it instantly provides a totally different sound. |

+1 to G minor.
I once combined low bass open g with with g minor and g6th. It defiantly qualified as weird, I forgot how it sounds but it was: (low to high) D G E G Bb D or something. Lol. |

I used this for a while (top 6 strings of an 8-string tuning), called it my "ECM" tuning. It's a version of an E13 tuning, not particularly 'dark', but definitely 'ethereal' and 'pretty'...

I currently have my Dobro set at
D G D G B-flat G. It sounds Spooky !
I like it for songs such as :
"House of the rising sun",
"Saint James infirmary",
"Ghost riders in the sky", etc. Ed |
