I have been playing steel for over 40 years and I started in High school. I began playing gigs two years later. I never really learned to dance. Now that live gigs have slowed down I find that I have two left feet. This topic has been mentioned by others in the past but I do not remember there being a poll. Just wanted to know how many steel players can dance.

Come to think of it, two left feet might not be such a bad thing, for a steel player. Wink

I can dance, but in a very syncopated, weird style that's frightening to behold!

My first Wife taught dancing at an Arthur Murray Studio. She couldn't teach me a damn thing. When I was in the Army there was a Dance Studio on the Base and I took the whole course. I got pretty good with my teacher but if I went into town to a Club and asked a girl to dance, a stepped all over her feet.
I finally gave up ! Some Guys are born to Dance but evidently not me.

When I hear music, I move my knees and feet like levers and pedals. My attempts to dance always amuse my wife.

I don't dance, that's why I play in the band. Besides, my wife hates country music!
