Fellow steelers - There is a quality looking Sho Bud Pro up on Ebay at auction, 6 days left, price is $300.00 today.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Sho-Bud-Shobud-Super-Pro-Double-Neck-Lap-Steel-Electric-Slide-Guitar-USA-/291232780478?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item43ced390be

I'm just a lap player myself but I came across this early today and wanted to pass it on. Also a high count seller with high % OK sales.

cheers,
miller

Would take a REALLY big lap! Love the pedal connection geometry. Could be a good deal for someone, depending on how high it goes.

I like the pedal rod arrangement. Is that what they call a "crossover"?!? Mr. Green

Nice Bud. What cracks me up is the statement that they don't know how the pedals hook up. They couldn't see the lever with a hole in it directly above a pedal.

in all fairness the seller may not know much about a D10 at all...especially how to set it up, or even get it in and out of a case...!

good photo's nice axe...

A great quip. Very funny. Laughing Laughing Laughing

But for those who are not familiar with the Sho Bud Crossover, I should point out that Cartright is making a joke. I have two Crossovers. They only have one knee lever and they have a very conspicuous crossover lever on the player's side to the left of the instrument, on the side just below the tuners. This instrument clearly has the label "Super Pro" on the front, and that's what it is. Cartright and Jeremy know this, of course.Laughing

It looks to be in immaculate condition. But the setup of the pedal rods is hilarious. A joke, surely. Very Happy

There are a lot of pictures on the eBay listing, and this looks like a very petty guitar.   Let's not be too hard on the seller, who says, " We do not know how the footpedals connect....  This is from a local musician's estate."

Miller,
I would be careful about recommending a steel for sale if you don't have personal experience with it. There could be some major issues with the changer along with all sorts of other issues. Often steel players will sell pedal steels on eBay that they know will not sell on the forum. The seller seems to be making a point of looking ignorant. Therefor if the steel is a dog it is not his fault.
It might be a great deal but it might not be too.

In my experience eBay is generally a pretty bad place to buy pedalsteels. Stick to the forum where people are more answerable and knowledgable. Especially if you are a relatively new player !

BTW: the guitar on eBay really looks pretty good but the bidding already has it very near market price.

I wonder if it's a 3/2 changer or 2/2?
Also, notice where the threads in the pull rods have been dragged across the raise holes, in the changer, in a couple locations and totally opened the holes. I would assume that is no small repair. Weld, grind and redrill?? RP

SuperPro's are 3/2.
Not sure what you're referring to about the pull rods.
Maybe where you can almost see the rod end thru the nylon tuner? If so, no biggie, IMHO. Quite a few steels - new ones, at that - have openings in the nylon ends with a bit of the thread poking out.
Unless there's some excessive wear in the changer or some other unseen damage, this appears to be a nice SuperPro in really good shape.

Well...except for the odd pedal rod setup. I dunno, maybe he's got something there...don't knock it 'till you've tried it.

Indeed. Four days to go on the auction and it is already at what I would tell someone was a fair price.

Here is a forum deal:

Totally knowledgeable and honest seller. And already a way better deal than the ebay steel.

No question the Pro II is a way better deal. The Super Pro is already up to $3,000.

Pro II is a lot better guitar than a super pro. No way would I give $3000 for a super pro, especially from a guy that calls it a lap steel and don't know where the rods go, duh.

3 grand for a SuperPro? And 55 bids?
No way... and I like SuperPro's.
I betcha they're playing dumb about it on purpose and driving up the bids themselves...
Ya think?

Many people who buy or sell steels on E-bay don't know a lot them. We've seen Mavericks sell for over $1,000.

This is however, an advantage for us when we want to sell something. I sold both my former MSA classics on E-bay after failing to do so here, and I got more for both of them than I expected.

I had a similar experience, Mike. I posted a lap steel here a few months ago for $250 and no one was interested. So I put it on eBay with an opening bid of $50, no reserve price, and it sold for $650!
