I really like Peterson tuners & Hilton pedals. But I find both generate significant buzz at higher volume settings. (I've swapped out amps & patch cords & taken all other devices offline to isolate the problem.) I've had have to go to a pot pedal on stage & unplug the tuner to keep sound guys from tasering me. Any known solutions?

Are you positive those are causing the problems?

What volume levels are you playing at and what amp and other effects are you using?

Absolutely positive, Jack. Everything else in the line has been eliminated. Only when a Hilton pedal and/or a Peterson tuner (whether inline or parallel) is introduced into the circuit does buzzing present itself. When using a pot pedal instead & with the tuner unplugged (not just powered off), there's no more buzz. The sound engineer on the show has been working with me on this for a week now. I have two Hilton pedals & two Peterson tuners - same problem no matter which ones I use.
By the way, there are three other amped instruments onstage with me. I'm the only one using those devices & the only one having the problem.

Hi Bill, I use the the Peterson and Hilton combination as well and haven't noticed any inherent buzzings.
When you tried your replacements, did you use different power supplies as well?

A bad wall wort can make a host of differnt problems. Good luck with a frustrating issue.

Bill, are all the units (amp, pedal, tuner) plugged into the same power strip with intact ground pins? Your problem sounds like a ground loop, which occurs when there is resistance between the grounds of the connected equipment.

What MODEL Peterson tuner do you have? Some do not have a true bypass. I had that buzz with my Stroboflip which is 3 years old now, and Sue with Peterson tech support made it a true bypass. Took her 5 minutes to do. There is a diode which is unneccessary, and that's the culprit.

Your other options are unplug your tuner when it's not in use or put a toggle switch in line with the tuner.

You can send back one of your tuners and Sue will fix it and send it back, then send your other one.

On the older Stroboflips there is a clipping diode on the input which can cause distortion, and Peterson will remove it for you at no charge. That doesn't make it true bypass, but true bypass is only needed if the pedal mucks up your tone without it.

Well Sue called it a true by pass when she took that diode out, and it makes no more noise--close enough for me.

My guitar is very stable and I only tune once a night or between sets, unplugging the tuner when I play. I did notice when working on a guitar in my shop with the radio on, it will cause static in the radio.
