As I previously posted, my wife decided she wanted to learn pedal steel (she plays guitar and bass). Blake Hawkins loaned us his Sho-Bud Maverick, and it has helped her work on her left hand and bar handling, but it has lots of limitations.
Thanks to fellow Florida Steel Guitar Club member Mark Hayes, who now has a mint restored Emmons D-10 PP, he no longer needed the GFI and graciously sold us his also mint GFI Expo S-10 at a price we couldn't refuse. (it is black and identical to the one Bobbe Seymour has on his store's main web site page). http://www.steelguitar.net/
The stock GFI pedal and 4 knee levers are identical to what I have on my Franklin (except for one extra pull on the RKR and I also have a 5th LKV). I've never had or fortunately needed a backup steel but the GFI could be used as a backup if I ever needed one, with the near identical E9th knee lever setup.
I was looking at the student model guitars and even bid on a Stage One on eBay but I'm glad I didn't get it. This is far better than a student model and really a "pro" model and should make it a little easier as she learns (she can already slowly play "Mansion On The Hill" from Don Sulesky's TAB). |
