What follows are some pictures of my 6 string Steinberger Synapse Steel guitar. I bought a project body without any hardware for $75 and then shortened the neck and collected some parts and made some parts and here you have it. The price sticker on the project body is $1749 - Thank you to Tom Bradshaw for making the fretboard available and explaining how to customize it to fit a 6 string guitar. Here are some pictures. It has 2 emg pickups that are dynamite in sound!

Nice work, tb.
How much would you say you spent, all counted ?
How about a sound clip, too ? _________________ Emmons S-8 P/P,DeArmond 40. Slowly drifting back towards sanity. |

Thank you Stan and Tom for your kind comments.
body and neck one piece $75
new msa fretboard $30
nut $60
6 string keyless tuner $75
New emg pickups $35
New Volume/tone /knobs/jack $30
Bridge $10
Total $315
Most parts came off ebay. It is an easy project and looks good and sounds good. If you check under steinberger projects you will find bodies minus hardware for sale very cheap. O, by the way Iam still waiting for the last part - one tone knob! _________________ LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN GEORGIA |

Nice job. I always thought that those types of guitars would make an interesting lap steel. So let's hear how it sounds! _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

After removing
the brass frets I sanded the surface, cleaned it, and carefully placed the fretboard. There was about 3/4" overlap which I trimmed off by using a very sharp blade. I then used one of my wife's emery boards as you suggested. It doesn't have the black lines as they were cut off but still looks very professional. Iused the wood edge of the Steinberger neck to get a good clean straight cut. _________________ LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN GEORGIA |
