Hey Folks! I purchased a MusicMan 115 RP amp not long ago and the first day I played it I was getting some sweet tone. But I also found a problem with it real quick. When you start to crank it up and play, it makes an awful loud noise, sounds sorta like a car wreck. I took it to my main amp man up here in Ohio and he has had it for a while and has yet to find the problem. He says that sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't. He has checked every single connection and they are all good, so he figures something in between is on the verge of going out completely, but hasn't yet. Do any of you guys have some insight on this problem? The fellow working on it is a professional, I've had a lot of amp work done there and he has always done a superb job. I'm really surprised this one has stumped him like this, but I really need this amp back soon! I imagine he's searching for answers too, but I thought any help I could give him might get my amp back sooner.

Any suggestions I can pass on to him would be very helpful!

Thanks!

Stephen

You didn't indicate if you have replaced the tubes. In my experience most problems in tube amps are the tubes.

SK,
I have seen my tech get out his iron, and touch every solder joint on an amp when he was unable to find an intermittent problem. Didn't always help, but sometimes it did.

I'll give a second vote of confidence for Terry Loose. He re-capped my Music Man 115 and it is awesome sounding!

Charlie, I should have mentioned, yes the tubes are brand new.
John, I'll pass that info onto my tech.
Joe and Julian, I'm sending Terry an e-mail now!

Thanks all for the info!
