I have a burgundy lacquer MSA "The Universal", early 80's in pristine condition. It's 7 pedals, 5 knees and has the Newman E9/B6 set up. Triple raise, triple lower. It's got one of the hot upgraded pick ups in it, although I'm not sure exactly which. Al Brisco would know - he recently set this guitar up and sold it to me. It's a beauty. It looks just like the the one on Maurice Anderson's "Steel with Brass" LP cover.

Anyway, I'm happy with the guitar. It plays very smooth and sounds great. However, I'm considering returning to a 10-string situation, where I'm only 5 years in on steel. I wanted to gauge interest in a possible trade for a Sho-Bud S-10 Green/Maness signature....has anybody heard of this guitar, or has one they may want to trade? I'm also open to discuss an Emmons all-pull trade as well. There is a little room for cash on my part, but a straight trade would be preferable. My only wish is that the guitars up for potential trade are free of mechanical issues. I live in a Canadian province that's very far from any pedal steel technicians.
I can send photos of the MSA - just email me.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,
I know Al had a Sho-Bud for sale earlier this year that was signed by both Lloyd and JayDee. This was never a production model, it's just that the previous owner had it autographed by these two fellows, whoever they are.

Joey,
I was actually referring to this guitar, and I indeed thought it was a production model. I picked the MSA over this one, but now that I'm interested in going back to a s-10, I thought this guitar would be nice to have, seeing that I'm a huge fan of the "Sweetheart" sessions and would like the Sho-Bud sound Lloyd was achieving in those sessions.
Thanks for clarifying this for me. I thought the initials on the guitar were "LJD"....my mistake.

Consider a Mullen as well. (Bulletproof would be a good description.) Jimmy Day did, and he played a Sho-Bud for quite a while.

Thanks for the suggestion, Mark. The Mullens seem like awesome guitars.

Bob, you can close this one up. I'm refining my post in the "For Sale" section, with an updated description of what I'm looking to do with the MSA.
