Another great meeting. The players: Jody Sanders-D10 EMCI, Jim Saunders_D10 Mullen. Mark Everson D12 Emmons, David Hubenak-D10 Mullen, Ora Oubre-S12 Pedalmaster, Billy Phelps-D10 Carter. The teaching segment and featured player was handled by Billy Phelps. Billy provided a great teaching segment which included an ascending scale that sounded like a decsending scale. And as usual, was fierce as the featured player. JAM players : Jody Sanders,Billy Phelps, Mark Everson, David Hubenak, and Ora Oubre. Misicians : Bass-James Harvey, Larry Schoppe. Guitar: Jim Saunders and Mark Everson. Fiddle: Mark Everson. Drums; Igor. Vocalists; Gene Brogdon, James Harvey, and Billy Phelps. A good time was had by all. Was nice to have Mark Everson with us for the first time. Nice to see my old friends Don Teague, James Harvey and Larry Schoppe. Thanks to Gale and Barbara Huey for the sodas, water, and treats. Thanks to Patty for keeping the coffee pot perking. No meeting in July due to July 4th Holiday. Thanks to everyone who supports our club. See you next time, Jody, Billy, and Patty.

Larry Schoppe played bass on a lot of tunes including when James was singing, and did a great job. It does get confusing with players shuffling in and out of the bandstand. _________________ Mullen, G2, D10, Peavey Nashville 112, Roland Cube 80XL, DD3, Goodrich L10 VP. |

Could someone please send me some more details about this? Is it a jam session for all, or only select players? Is this monthly or whenever?
Is this associated with a steel jam session in Katy?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx,

Jim, I'll answer some of your questions. The meetings are open to all, musician or non-musician. No cover, but donations are welcome. You may come and listen, or bring an instrument and play. We often have a teaching segment to open. Players who are beginners to intermediate are invited to play two songs, and they go first. Use your tracks or have the band back you. Then we usually have a featured player. Billy Phelps was featured last time. Then we have an open jam, with the steel players taking turns with the band backing. Other instruments regularly show up. Fiddles, bass, guitars, and harmonicas. We haven't had many keyboardist, or horn players, but you get the idea. Come join us. _________________ Mullen, G2, D10, Peavey Nashville 112, Roland Cube 80XL, DD3, Goodrich L10 VP. |

Jim:
I have been to a lot of jams and I will say this is one of the best in the country. The teaching segment alone is worth going for. They have some great pickers and the whole atmosphere is friendly and outgoing. Billy can hold his own with any picker and the others are not far behind.
Jody:
Congrats on your recent marriage. My new bride and I were both widowed for eight years. She has turned into a great Roadie. Grabs that D-10 Emmon p/p like it was a feather, And most of all she loves me and country music, how much better can it get.
We are looikng forward to a trip to Huston in the fall. Keep on picken...
