Here's another link to a great steel player with an extraordinary talent for playing both lead guitar and pedal steel in the same song.

Dick and his wife, Lois, are extremely nice folks to be around, too. Many of you may remember Lois from the TV show, "The Bobby Lord Show". Lois is talented with a great voice and does a great job playing bass guitar, too.
Dick's version of "Last Date" toward the end of the video is one of the best I've ever heard.
See you at the Denver Steel Show!!!

I'm looking forward to coming to Denver again and seeing all my friends and making new ones. I will try to have some new tunes worked up this year as well as playing the tunes that most of you want to hear me play. Chuck Lettes is now my favorite pkayer on the Rickenbacker lap steel. We both play a 6 string guitar but our styles are so different is it easy to play duets together. See you there! Scotty |

Dewitt:
We're looking forward to seeing you at the Denver show. It would be great to hear you and Chuck Lettes do a duet on 6 string "Rickys". We always enjoy the great performances by you!!
When I started pickin' pedals, there were no teachers or many pedal players around. Like so many beginning pedal pickers, I bought Scotty's "The New Sho-Bud Pedal Steel Guitar" book and learned those great Nashvill licks. I consider Scotty to be my first Pedal Steel Guitar Teacher.
Here's a link to a couple of Scotty's great performances:

I remember watching you and Chuck play together in Denver a couple of years ago. It was great performance! I hope to make it this year. |

If you get to go to the Steel Show in Denver, be sure to catch Ernie Martinez's set. This guy can play about any instrument, and does them well, but I think he's a very under-rated Steel Player.
He played on a Western Swing album, that I recorded a few years back, and sure did a great job. Nice guy too, and easy to work with. Wish I could make it, but I gotta stay around Fort Worth, and pick here. No Joke, Check Him out. Chuck Cusimano _________________ They call it FILL 'cause it goes in the holes. Linda and I hope to be there this year too, last year I had to run the Steam Train that runs from Denver to Cheyenne and back on that day, but it looks like a go for this year. Can't wait to see everyone. |

I totally agree that Ernie Martinez is under-rated. It's been a few years since I heard him, but his tone is outstanding and some of the best pickin' I've heard. Quite a multi-talented person. You won't be disappointed in Ernie!!!
Red, looking forward to meeting you at the show. Be sure to bring lots of CD's. Maybe we could talk Dick into letting you do a couple of songs??
See you all there!!!

This looks like a good show and great time!
Maybe we can take a little road trip out to the Mile High City and take in some steel guitar. |
