When re-rodding and setting up from scratch, is there any particular order for tuning the raises? In other words, should the 4th string F# raise on the 'C' pedal be set up before the 'F' raise on the knee lever? Seems like I remember something about this when I had a PP.

Thanks!!

Which model is it?
If it's an all-pull guitar, then it doesn't matter what order you tune those raises...if it's a rack and barrel system, then I don't know.

Skip,
I'm not a Bud person, but on an all pull seems like the best way to start is to do the raises first starting with the pedal/lever closes to the changer, then the lowers. Theory being, the raises on the changer are closer to the body, therefore you wouldn't have to work around the lower rods installing the raises.

Just my 2cents worth...Bill

Thanks for the replies everybody - what I'm trying to say (I think) is: will setting the E to F raise first interfere with the E to F# raise being in tune? or vice-versa?

Bill always has great ideas!

Skip,
Assuming (and you know what they say about that word) you have cleaned and lubed everything, it shouldn't matter which you do first, just a matter of convenience.Remember, everything needs a little bit of slack when you finish setting up, and tuning.

Thanks for the compliments,BF

if its not a single raise/single lower changer('Bud Professional) then do the raises first and start with the changes that will go higher on the changer raise bar on each particular string,ie; E to F string 4(LKL) and B to C# string5 on pedal 3. Typically, the change going in either the middle or top hole gets installed first to avoid crossing the rods on multiple change fingers. But doing say the E to F first shouldnt interfere with the E to F# as all pull guitars rely on final stops to get the desired note with the longest travel(plain string4 vs wound string8), whereas a p/p guitar needs the lowers done first, then the raise is installed and has slack adjusted in to accomodate the lower.
