It's this one: http://www.goldtone.com/products/details/w/instrument/445/PBKG-New-for-2010

I just learned about it. It certainly looks interesting and I would like to hear from someone who has tried it. It can be found as low as $525, but is it any good?

Best,
Hans

Jim Adams also builds a nice square necked acoustic guitar.

Yep, those looks nice as well, but at almost double the cost. Not to say that they aren't superior, but I thought the most interesting about the Goldtones was the fact that a big company is now making acoustic squarenecks at a very reasonable price (if they are any good that is but since the Goldtone dobro is pretty nice, they should be okay).

It's a very nice guitar, in my opinion. I got to play one at the Dallas Jamboree earlier this year. It has much more of sound of a standard acoustic guitar, which is a matter of taste (I prefer the sound of a resophonic guitar for lap style playing).

It had very good balance between all the strings and was easy to play.

Thanks Brad. Thanks sound promising - I'll be going to New York in a couple of weeks and try to find one to play myself.

Best,
Hans

Hans,
I would go to Gold Tone's website and hit the Contact Us button and then email Wayne Rogers, the President/Customer Svc and see where he's got them hidden in the NY area before just blindly trying to find one. www.goldtone.com Goldtone1@aol.com for Wayne Rogers.
