Honest John Parker was a DJ on WWL in the 80's and 90's, and hosted "The Road Gang," which was an all-night trucker show (Fridays and Saturdays) on WWL AM 870. I think he may have taken this show over from Charlie Douglas when Charlie moved to Nashville.

The Road Gang show featured classic country/honky tonk (something similar to today's XM 13) - music heavy on steel and fiddle. John was a walking encyclopedia of country music history and trivia, ala Eddie Stubbs.

Do any forumites know whatever happened to him? I haven't been able to find much on the Internet after his WWL days.

Thanks

Thanks Charles. I should have been a little more diligent in my web search. Sorry of course to learn that John passed away.

I can certainly relate to author's reflections. I was playing a weekend gig back in those days that caused me to have a late drive home on Fridays and Saturdays, and I always enjoyed the show.
