Here's an article on some Texas dance halls. The movement to preserve as many of these old halls is growing. The traditional music dances are still held, but some great Texas Country bands are helping this effort. There only 4 halls in this short film, but many others are still being used. Some are gone and some are deteriorating at an alarming rate. Enjoy.

It's sad to see them go away. I lived in Texas for 6 months back 1980 to 1981. My Mom and Dad lived there for about 4 years,in Tyler, Athens and Passadena. I remember going to a place in Tyler called the "Loafing Shed". I got to hear some great musicians there. I remember the "Rio Palm Isle" at the Best Western in Longview. Traditional country music has gone the way of the old dancehall.
God I miss em'.
