Good find... I am in awe of this band, jazz meets country, in the most delightful way...

That's John Hughey on steel guitar, not Paul Franklin. Any time you get a chance to be in Nashville on a Monday night, you should be at the Station Inn enjoying this music!

What great playing by all the musicians!
Love this stuff!
Blown away by the steel player.
I had just started listening to more pedal steel lately, and John Hughey was one of the best I'd heard.

Unfortunately, a google search revealed he passed away about 4 years ago.

...John Hughey, now I get it. Was he the original steel player for this group? How long have they been around? Certainly if I get out that way, I'm checking them out for sure.

For convenience, heres a search i did on Paul Franklin and the time jumpers.

And a search I did on John Hughey and the time jumpers. Way more content than I thought! Thanks for the post...Chris

IMHO, I think that some of the Timejumpers first inspiration came from the Spade Cooley Western Swing Band from the mid 1940's. The whole Band playing arrangements became the Star Attraction.

Chris, Johnny Cox played steel with the Time Jumpers. He is on the CD from 2002. I think he may have been the original steel player, but I'm not sure.

You can download an entire performance of the TJ's with John Hughey from the Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour recorded at the Kentucky Theatre if you care to go to the trouble. I think it's a one hour program. http://www.woodsongs.com/showlist.asp It's archived program #447.

FYI, I just watched The Time Jumpers on Public TV. I think the show was from 06 or 07 at the Station Inn. Dedicated to the memory of John Hughey. Lots of good stuff and hot pickin' by John Hughey and the rest of the band.

Lots of grins all over the stage. I can only imagine what fun it is to play with people like this that are so talented but whose common interest is the obvious love of the music.

It may be airing on the NPT or PBS affiliate in your area. So watch the listings if you're interested.
