I am addressing this to you because I know you are a Forum member. I want to tell you, and I want you to tell Marty Stewart, how much I enjoy and appreciate the show on RFD TV. You guys are keeping the music alive. You really do your homework on keeping the signiture licks and harmonies that belong with each artist. You are excellent at changing to the styles of each one of them, be it bluegrass, cowboy, western swing, rockabilly or whatever.
Back several years ago Marty came to the TSGA Jamboree to be with Gary Hogue to get his award. ( hall of Fame, I think). They put Marty in the Western Swing band Saturday night on mandolin. He did a Superlative job except Leon Rausch called him "The guy without a hat." I guess it'd mess up the "doo" |

Danny, Amen to what you said. I was at the TSGA Jamboree that night for Tom Morrell & the Timewarp Tophands with Marty sitting in on mandolin. I was very impressed with Marty because every time Tom would point at him to take a ride, he did it perfectly, and some of the tunes were very complex and obscure. |

Another neat thing about our Texas show is that the big shots have to ride the elevaters and walk down the same halls that the rest of us do to get to the stage. Some of them visit the vendors booths. Some of them even play in the vendors booths. Most of them are easy to strike up a conversation with. I was walking down the hall and said hey to Marty when he came by with the mando slung across his back. |

Thanks, Alvin. I have trouble with Stewert, Stewart, and Stuart, but the one that's married to Connie Smith, wears the fancy suits, got big hair, sings, writes songs, takes pictures, collects memorobilia and plays the hell out of mandolins and guitars is the one I was talkin about. (probably misspelled memorobilaia too) |

I was also there at the TSGA....as I recall , Marty was playing a five string "Mandocaster". In a short time after Gary's appearance , he went home to be with the Lord and it was a great loss. He and Junior made some great magic together. |
