Went to see Deke Dickerson Thursday night with Joel and Modern Sounds. Great show and Joel is just plain hot. He played more guitar than steel and unfortunately was playing steel through a Vibrolux which didn't quite cut it for steel tone, but was a trade off for playing guitar and steel through the same amp. I told him if I'd known I would have lent him my Vibrosonic. They're down in Portland tonight at Duff's Garage. Great show and of course Deke is a great player and singer. _________________ www.facebook.com/countrydaveharmonson |

i saw them in sac last week and felt the same. good steel player...but pushing that fender amp didn't sound pretty. took away from his performance for me. however...great guitar player!!! and that bass player and especially his drummer knocked me out. i can't even imagine having such a talented, together, butt kicking little trio. seemed like nice guys too!
i could listen to that chicago bluesy swingy crap for a long time the way they do it. good singing too. and they support deke almost too well! |

I was at the same show here in Seattle. Man, what a great band. I got there late coming from band practice so I missed Joel's set. Go see this band if they come to your town. Joel sounded great - surprisingly distorted on steel but played through it with aplomb. I'd never seen them before and it was most I've enjoyed a live band in a long time! Well, last time I saw Dave with Zoe Muth was killer too!! |

Joel is one of the most naturally gifted and talented musician I've had the pleasure of knowing. Make sure you check out the Modern Sounds if they come to your town. |

Well, call me an old fart... but this left me pretty flat... seems the "quaintness" of the mixed music styles, and the years passed since they were both in vouge work for this band leader and his trio.... but quite frankly the video at least was short of the mark to be professional in my opinion... but I'm an actual steel player and not a "camp" fan.....
in fact I was much more impressed by by your Fender 8-string lap steel playing Dave H. last year.
... and Chris I., come on, your a great steel player...
if I seem like the last bastion of quality control on pedal steel playing for young audiences... well that's OK with me
Check out the Buddy C. and Leon Rhodes TV footage of Bud's Boogie (another topic), and remind yourself what "good" really is... please.

Looks like the "Scotty Moore" to me, i.e. Gibson ES 295. _________________ Primitive Utility Steel |

Yep, that's it. ES 295. Pretty much like a 175 except Goldtop and P 90's. Great sounding guitar an worth a ton. _________________ www.facebook.com/countrydaveharmonson |
