I know that this has been said a thousand times, but not yet by me.

My volume pot came loose in my Goodrich pedal last night (during to last set, thank god.) I just needed to refasten it and rewind the string, a minor repair, but one I've never had to deal with.

Thankfully, I have this forum to turn to for help. A quick search yielded several topics which pointed me to Greg Cutshaw's site and Scotty's Music page. Within five minutes, the VP is back in action and I'm off to another gig tonight. This is a very minor example of the sort of information I've gained from the forum. I've been able to solve every problem I've encountered on my nearly 40 year-old Sho~Buds.

I cannot imagine having picked up the steel guitar, much less learned on vintage gear, without this resource. You guys that have invested your time into posting your advice (and in some cases, developing whole websites devoted to steel guitar) have really spoiled us young players.

Personally, every time anyone comes up at a show and tells me they play steel guitar or are learning to play, one of the first things I ask is "Are you on the forum?" This forum is like having a stadium full of steel players in your living room. There's no substitute for experience, and you all who share your experience are doing to the good work and keeping our instrument alive and well.

Thanks again guys!

Now, if you haven't already done so, go out and purchase a second "back-up" volume pedal!

Amen, Lee. I'm thinking about grabbing a Hilton and using my new Goodrich as a backup. One more thing on the long list of things to buy, lol. It never ends.

So true Brett. I think sometimes we take this forum for granted. It is a veritable storehouse of steel guitar information. In earlier days, you would have to call someone, if you knew who to call, or write a letter and wait days or weeks for a response. The service b0b provides here is invaluable which reminds me I am due to send in a forum donation.

Most of the members here are quick to help and, I believe take a lot of joy in helping their fellow steelers. I agree, everybody give yourselves a hand.
