If any of you have been wondering who the staff band has chosen to play the lead guitar this year at the international Steel Guitar Conventioin there will two of them. Roger Miller - he played at the Convention last year and impressed the band. Dino Strunk from Branson, MO will be joining us. Dino comes very highly recommeded. l want to thank all the other players that were under consideration as they all were well quaified. Of course, Bobby Caldwell will be sadly missed and we have a short DVD of Bobby and will show it at his induction into The Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame, Inc. on Saturday at 2:00 pm.

The dates of this years Convention are September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I have the schedule of events all maped out and will be posting it real soon. MAKE YOUR HOTEL RESERVATIONS NOW! Millennium Hotel (314) 241-9500. To order your badges contact us at scotty@scottysmusic.com Scotty

There is no one that can replace the great Bobby Caldwell. He was the "steel players guitar player".

Bobby would be proud to have Roger Miller on the stage. I can attest to Roger's playing last year. It was superb.

I am proud to announce that I will be playing on the show this year for the first time.
I have been attending the convention, without interuption, since 1976 and have been in the sound booth since 1981 in one capacity or another.

During these years I have met and become friends with more "musicians" than I can count. This convention has been the musical highlight of my life.

I look forward to MANY more.

Love ya Scotty,
Bill Ferguson

Ray - Yes. Jimmy and Starla Queen will be the hosts for the Thursday night Hall Of Fame Fund raising show. With dropping Suday I expect a lot more steel players to be in the hotel on Thursday which will give Jimmy a chnace to put more steel players on the show. Time permitting or course. Scotty

Scotty, I like your choice of guitar players and I know Bobby would approve also. Roger and Dino both love steel guitar, and they are both wonderful people. I got to know Roger in Waterloo, Iowa and Dino lives about 20 miles south of me. No one could ever replace my friend Bobby Caldwell and the many memories I have of Bobby on the 36 plus shows. Life goes on and I guarantee everyone will love Roger and Dino, both are GREAT PLAYERS. I am in Texas right now. After hearing Bobby Flores with 4 fiddles I can't understand why I can't have 2 fiddles?

Scotty , You have the list of seminars and the teachers but I don't see any line up of players for the main show and the times. I did put in a post to find out but maybe no one knows so I was wondering if you might be able to tell me....Thanks Ron

Scotty.

I hated last year that I wasn't able to attend and play the spot you gave me. Dadgumit! At any rate, I looked over this year's schedule. Boy, I'd love a chance to play a bit in that Gospel show on Saturday. Everything I do as you know is Gospel. Maybe you can pass the word to whoever is working on that or just let me know who I can contact.

I'm going to get to St. Louis this year...looking forward to seeing some old friends and getting back on the steel scene.

Regards, Zane

Please post some Names so we get more people to come.
Each time I ask my friends if they are going they all ask the same thing. Who's going to be there?
I believe that times are bad but we need something to look forward too!

We have been to many of the shows and will be there this year
We have had many surprises that made the trip worth while.
If we had been looking for one playry we would have missed some good players.
All the players Scotty bookes are great

I was planning on going...but then I saw that the ISGC is now a day shorter and is no longer happening on Sunday. Most of us working folks have only Saturday, Sunday and Monday off, and have to work all day Thursday and Friday. If a day needed to be chopped off, it should have been Thursday so at least those of us that work M-F day jobs could get in Sat/Sun. Make Friday morning the newbies, Friday afternoon the pros and then all day Sat and Sun for pros.

Leaving us with just Saturday doesn't make much sense, in my humble opinion.

Labor Day weekend is Saturday, Sunday, Monday. The ISGC is happening Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Color me confused.

I can't justify driving all the way to St. Louis for one day, especially when I don't know who I'll be able to see on that last day. Sad

I think the dates are great - take a a day or two off of work to see the show and still be able to come home and spend some time on part of the weekend with the family and friends

Joe,

Sunday has been very poorly attended with most of the vendors either breaking down or already gone. You could have fired a cannon in the ballroom last year.
