My mentor, if I ever had one, John Hughey. From my early years at age 14 on a Friday night in Runnelstown, MS. to the day he passed this was my steel guitar idol. I make a point to play some of Johns signature licks at steel shows and other events. Simply out of respect. It was an honor to know this great man. I'll never forget the few minutes he spent with me as a 14 year old kid on that night. My father, a steel player, had only died about a year earlier. John was like a blessing. I immediately knew that night that I wanted to be a steel picker. Love and miss you buddy! |

Does anyone know for certain what John's setup on his wood neck PP was when he played this gig?
Inquiring minds want to know .... after all, if I know his setup I could sound just like him ....

Thank you Billy.
I am asking for even further detail, of John's setup at the time of his work with Conway.
What did his various knee levers do at that time?
